Go Spurs Go!

Spurs 91 Lakers 93

In the almost 4 years that we have lived here the San Antonio Spurs have won the National Championship twice! They are working on a 3rd title and we decided to get in on the action.

Ben was fortunate enough to get tickets in the Harland Clarke box for game 5 so we enjoyed the night watching good basketball with great company. The suite was catered with yummy food and they specially ordered Ben and I a few non-alcoholic beverages! We shared a piece of Snickers Pie when the dessert cart came by and Ben enjoyed watching the game live as well as all of the replays on the TV in our suite. We saw Mrs. Longoria Parker cheering on her husband and the national anthem was sung by Clay Walker.

One funny moment occurred as we were the last two to enter the suite just before tip-off. As soon as we arrived we saw Ben's fellow colleagues all wearing the same Spurs t-shirt. Ben immediately thinks...was I suppose to buy a special shirt to wear tonight? It was a brief moment of panic but we were quickly greeted with the matching shirts which we immediately put on over our clothes! It was funny to see the confusion instantly cover Ben's face for a brief moment!

Isabelle did not attend the game with us, but she was in full Spurs cheerleader mode all day! She stayed home with an excellent babysitter, Miss Camie, and was sound asleep when we returned home at nearly midnight!

Despite the Spurs losing a close game to the Lakers, we had a great time! Now they head back to Los Angelas for game 6 and we hope to see them back here for more games this weekend!

Heat Wave!

Ben promised Isabelle earlier this week that he would take her to Sea World on Saturday...and Jelly never forgets anything! She has been talking about it all week so when she awoke this morning and figured out Ben would be home all day, she knew it must be Saturday!

With record heat we headed to see Shamu and joined the other thousands of people who chose to spend the holiday weekend at the park. Isabelle loved seeing the Shamu show and was somewhat disappointed when she learned that she was not going to be able to swim with him in his actual tank. (I really think she would have jumped in if we would have let her.) Instead we spent the rest of the afternoon at the water park swimming and trying to keep cool! When we arrived home this evening we bathed Isabelle quickly and dropped her in her bed and she never even rolled over! She was exhausted after all of the fun in the sun!

It's gonna be another flip-flop summer!

Today was the first day Isabelle ever wore flip flops without a strap on the back to hold them on! She has basically wore flip flops since she was only days old, but until now they have always had a little elastic band on the back to help them stay on her feet. This afternoon while we were getting ready to head out the door for the day she found these new flip flops in her closet from her Aunt Tara. She decided she wanted to give them a try and once she put them on her tiny feet they never came off. I don't think she even noticed that they were different than her other flip flops, she just noticed that they had Ariel on the sole. This may not seem like a significant milestone to some, but for all of you living in San Antonio when it is 100 degrees in mid-May, you can appreciate this big accomplishment! Congrats Isabelle on becoming a real flip flopper!

Can I help you ma'am?

Several times a week Isabelle gathers her basket of wooden food and lines each piece up along the window-sill in the master bedroom. She then pretends that she is grocery shopping and that this is the moving belt at the checkout. She talks the entire time with dialogue from both her and the grocery store attendant and often says: can I help you ma'am? When she has once again gathered the food back up in her basket, she pays for her groceries and waits for her receipt. Sometimes she tells me that she is shopping at Target, sometimes she is at Walmart or occasionally HEB but one thing is always constant...she is always having a great time being busy!

Mother I love you, Mother I do...

I have been loved and kissed and hugged by Isabelle and her daddy all weekend. Ben surprised me on Friday when he came home from work with dinner and a movie for us to share after we got Jelly tucked into her bed for the night. The festivities carried on all day Saturday as we jogged, went to lunch at a new Mexican restaurant and shopped the afternoon away at the La Cantera shopping center. This morning Isabelle was so excited to give me her gift and card she had carefully wrapped and colored on. The card was precious and had a little girl on the front that looked just like her with blonde pigtails and pink bows. The gift had the new Jessica Seinfeld cookbook Deceptively Delicious in it from Belle as well as the Grey's Anatomy Series DVD from Ben. I can now bake some yummy food which I can "hide" cauliflower, sweet potatoes and broccoli in, while I get my McDreamy fill! It was a wonderful Mother's Day weekend and I am grateful that I have such a sweet child and husband that make my job enjoyable!

I also have to pay a quick tribute to the wonderful mothers Ben and I were raised by! They continue to teach us all things which are important and do it with great love. They are a great support and example to our little family! Happy Mother's Day!

And the Oscar goes to...

Isabelle loves to pretend and has quite the imagination! It is fun to listen to her "play" with her beloved stuffed friends and hear all of their dialogue.

This morning while we were out on a jog this is what I hear:
Sara, Sara come back. No. Sara, please come back. No, I am going to find my father. Sara, we're not kidding. You are going to get lost. I don't care. Sara!!!
It took me nearly half a mile of listening before I realized she was quoting "The Land Before Time."

I think she gets her hyper creative gene from her Dad which I am grateful for! Most mornings, I am just happy she can recite monologues to keep herself entertained until we can jog back up the hill and make it safely home. It is a beautiful time of year to be outside!
