October is always a fun and busy month. School and extra curricular activities are in full swing and even though the air is still warm in Texas, the idea of Fall is exciting and motivating. This October we enjoyed General Conference, celebrating Aunt Tara's birthday, working on school projects and playing with friends. We Walked for a Cure, had a sleepover with cousins and were proud when Ben was the Watchdog at school. Soon it was time to take down all the spooky decor and get ready for some real cool air to blow in.....goodbye October.
It seems like every year I end up asking "When did Halloween become such a huge deal?" It is for sure one loved holiday around here and we did our best at celebrating all month long. The girls dressed as cosmetics this year, particularly Nail Polish and Lipstick and were as cute as ever. The girls visited a Rest Home with the Activity Days class and participated in a costume parade for the residents, we enjoyed a costume party at our friend the Martin's house and we hosted our first ever Day of the Dead Party with neighbors and friends. We loved eating Dinner in a Pumpkin at Grammies and the girls wore their spooky glow-in-the-dark pj's all month long. Happy Halloween 2016!
The girls heard that the Arthur Murray 2016 SuperRama was in Las Vegas this year and began petitioning their dad to skip school and go months before the event. Fortunately for them, Ben is a sucker and so mid August we pulled the girls early one week and boarded a plane to the Sin City. Soon we were walking down the strip and made our home in none other than The Bellagio for several days and nights.
The girls loved the busyness of the city, which we knew they would, and the Paris Hotel may win 1st place for their favorite spot. We ate at several of the hotels and played at the arcade, attended a magic show and walked 20,000 steps a day. The girls loved helping Aunt Tara in the ballroom as well and looked cute and professional as they gathered score cards and arranged trophies, etc.
It was a pretty awesome escape from the routines at home and being treated to a room and all the gelato we could eat at the Bellagio was icing on the cake. The girls were bummed to return back to home once again but like I tell them every time we vacation...If we don't ever go home, we can't enjoy our next adventure.
